Miguel @ Landmark Festival

Miguel wasn’t even one of the headliners for this year’s inaugural Landmark Festival but he was by far the best set I saw all weekend. I shot him a few years ago opening for Drake and he was electric back then and he’s only improved since then. I have been hearing amazing things about his show on this tour and he did not disappoint. We can only hope he comes back to town and does his own…

9:30 Club Concerts

Tobias Jesso, Jr. @ 9:30 Club

Good timing for Tobias Jesso, Jr.’s tour. It hit D.C. right around the time the details of Adele’s new album began to trickle out. he will have some songwriting credits on the album and I’m sure that bodes well for his bank account in the future. In the meantime, he’s touring on his own and doing a bang up job. Obviously, shooting a seated pianist isn’t the most challenging assignment, but there were great lights at the…

Concerts Echostage

Stromae @ Echostage

Stromae had a ton of buzz after his performance at SXSW earlier in the year. He packed Echostage and had everyone singing along, no mean feat since he sings in French. This was a great show with plenty of energy and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if he’s playing an even bigger venue the next time he returns to D.C. RFK Stadium Sports

USMNT v Peru @ RFK

I used to shoot a ton of D.C. United matches a few years ago before my concert shooting schedule took precedence, so it was great to head out to RFK and shoot the US Men’s National Soccer Team in their friendly against Peru back in September. The first half was a bit of a snoozer, but the action picked up quite a bit in the second half. Joey Altidore scored twice on the night and the US…

9:30 Club Concerts

Luna @ 9:30 Club

The last time I saw Luna at the 9:30 Club on their farewell tour, I didn’t even own an SLR. That’s how long they’ve been away. So I was overjoyed to be able to shoot their return to the club. The band were in fine form and I lost my shot when they played “Bobby Peru”and “Tracy, I Love You.” And any night you get to hear Luna play “23 Minutes in Brussells” is a good night.…

2015 Sweetlife Festival Day Two

Charli XCX Performs at the 2015 Sweetlife Festival

I put up photos from day one a while back. Day two was pretty ho-hum except for Charli XCX and The Weekend. The former put on the best set I saw that weekend and the latter had the biggest crowd on either day. And this was before his single blew up. RIDE @ 9:30 Club

Ride Performs at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

I’ve seen RIDE three times this year (definitely not something I thought I would be able to say in 2015. Woo!) and each time they’ve been EPIC. I caught them back in June at a late night show in Atlanta before their Shaky Knees slot the next day and they were absolutely amazing. Definitely the best rock show I’ve seen this year. Their gig a week later in Toronto was almost as good. Their show at the…

2015 Trillectro Festival

Chance The Rapper Performs at the 2015 Trillectro Festival

This year’s edition of the Trillectro Festival took place in Columbia, MD at Merriweather Post Pavilion, a stark contrast to the previous venues, all located inside the District proper. As a result, the special feel of the festival was lost, as it was mostly attended by (what seemed like) teens from the suburbs. The genre twisting lineups at the previous editions of this fest have been a source of local pride (and with good reason!), but the…
