Yesterday I tweeted about the upcoming end to the Camera Bits sale of their Photo Mechanic software at the very reduced rate of $60 (keep in mind this is a non-upgradeable version that is for sale). A few people asked me my thoughts about Photo Mechanic so I thought I would share them. In short, I love it. I originally learned about Photo Mechanic from Zack Arias. I watched the above video where Zack explains his workflow and…
My latest food assignment took me to the up and coming NoMa neighborhood to check out Todd Gray’s newest creation, Watershed. It’s nestled in the new Hilton Garden Inn and has a killer outdoor patio that will be perfect during the summer evenings. While I was taking photos, Chef Gray was telling us about how he plans to split his time between Watershed and his other restaurant, Equinox. Basically, he’s going to take multiple trips between the two…
Not long after I got a sneak peek at Toki Underground, I got the chance to take a look at the other anticipated arrival on H Street, the Queen Vic pub. I am always up for a new place to watch some football, so I was very interested to check out this pub and see what it had to offer. As you can see, plenty of places to sit and watch TV while you nosh on some authentic British pub food.…
D.C. has been waiting for Toki Undergound to open for months now and I had the chance to check out H street’s newest hot spot a few days before their official opening. I can’t say I am much of a dumpling guy, but everything I tasted from the menu was incredible. It’s easy to see why there are three hour waits on the weekends. No joke. Toki Underground is located at 1234 H Street, NE (above The…
Without a doubt the most buzzed about band at this year’s SXSW festival was Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, aka Odd Future. I was able to catch their show at the Fader Fort by Fiat and after seeing them, it’s easy to see why they are blowing up. Known for diving in into the crowd and generally wreaking havoc on stage, Odd Future lived up to their reputation. With so many band members on stage…
One of the biggest nights out in D.C. every year is the annual Fashion For Paws charity event. This was my second year covering it and it’s amazing how much it’s grown in just the last 365 days. Last year’s event was held at the Itlaian Embassy, whereas this year’s event was moved to the much larger National Building Museum. The event is basically a fashion show made up of “models” that each raised over $3,000 for the Washington…
Brightest Young Things were nice enough to interview Josh Sisk and I in conjunction with the opening of our photos show, Full Speed Or Nothing (open through May 1!). Read the interview here.
