This was a pretty challenging gig. There was no photo pit so I had to choose my spot in the crowd carefully. I chose the stage left, just off the center of the stage because I knew the keyboardist in the band would be stage right and also I found a enough real estate to squeeze into to get a spot right at the stage. Since I couldn’t move around at all, I ended up basically getting variations of the same shot for most of the night.
Lights for this show were pretty non-existant, the band was bathed in deep washes of color with various stage props on stage lighting things up to various degrees Not ideal but i can only shoot in the condition I was given. Luckily there was no 3 song limit for this gig so I could snap away until I got what I needed.
In the end I stayed for six or seven songs, and I’m glad I did. For the fifth or sixth song vocalist Megan James lit herself with a handheld light that yielded some of my best shots of the night.
