It’s hard to pass up a chance to shoot a legend like Bruce Springsteen, especially in a unique venue like Nationals Park, so I made sure I had a photo pass with my name on it when the Boss came through town.
I shot him once back in 2009 and felt like I could have done better so I wa glad to get that chance. Overall the experience was not what I had hoped it would be. It’s not something I’m going to go into details about, but lets just say I was frustrated by more than a few logistical decisions made by the Springsteen camp. I know Nats Park is an unfamiliar venue but I felt the process should have gone much smoother.
We were positioned inside the video camera turrets at the back of the GA pit, which was a surprise. We were told it would be a soundboard shoot but we were actually about halfway in-between the stage and the soundboard. That was nice, although shooting around all the sings people were holding up in the GA pit proved challenging.
