Beady Eye @ TLA

I was so happy when Liam Gallagher’s new band Beady Eye announced they would be coming over to the States in June for their inaugural tour of the US, but sadly there was no date in Washington, D.C. That meant it was time for a road trip. The wife and I packed a weekend bag and hopped on the train for a weekend in the City of Brotherly Love. I had been to the TLA twice before,…

2011 Gold Cup: USA v. Jamaica

Back in 2003 when I first moved to D.C., I made a pros and cons list for moving here. One of the first thing I wrote down for the pros list was that the US Men’s National Soccer Team played quite a few matches at RFK, and I would have a chance to go to them. Little did I know, a few years later I would be an accredited photographer covering the team!  It’s Gold Cup time again and…

Concerts featured M&T Field Out of Town

U2 @ M & T Stadium

Last night was my second time seeing (and shooting) U2 on their U2 360 Tour. Although I’m not the biggest U2 fan, I really enjoyed shooting them in 2009 at FedEx Field and was very excited to do so again. Management changed around some of the shooting parameters for the photogs for this show, however, confining us to a platform located stage right. At the FedEx show I was stage left and got some good shots with Bono and Edge in…

Mumford & Sons @ Merriweather Post Pavilion

Mumford & Sons are the band of the moment. They’ve come out of seemingly nowhere to become one of the most popular bands on the planet. Last year they played a sold out show at the 9:30 Club for their first trip to D.C., then they did themselves one better by selling out Merriweather Post Pavilion last week. Not too shabby. The band put a mounted video camera in the center of the photo pit for this…

Seersucker Social 2011

Like the Tweed Ride in the fall, the Seersucker Social is fast becoming a summer tradition here in D.C. These events keep getting bigger and bigger. People love to dress up and, luckily for me, have their photo taken. This year’s Seersucker Social started with a bike ride from Meridian Hill Park to Hillwood Estates, just off of Connecticut Avenue, near Van Ness. I had never been to Hillwood Estates, but really enjoyed the environment. Green lawns, a putting…

9:30 Club Concerts

Adele @ 9:30 Club

Every once a while a big artist will start their national tour in D.C. and a few weeks ago the 9:30 Club had the pleasure of hosting international superstar Adele on the first night of her very sold out US tour. While I’ve never listened to her music that much, I was very excited to get a chance to shoot the top record seller of 2011 in such an intimate venue. Sadly, our view that night was…
