This was a tough gig to shoot. A two song shooting limit at a seated theatre with a stationary performer meant very limited options as far as sightless and shooting angles. To top it off, Newsom went to the piano at the back of the stage for the second song, so she was hidden by stage gear for a third of our allowed shooting time. The quietness of her show is also limiting. I shot on quiet mode but there’s always someone that insists on shushing me while I am shooting, making more noise than me in the process. I know when my shutter is louder than the music being played., Believe me, I hate it as much as you do and I try and time my shots so that they happen when the music swells. But sometimes it can’t be helped and I try and not overshoot those moments.
