I had some reservations about the show (mostly the undercard) before heading out to RFK on the 4th of July to shoot this show but it ended up being a really fun day, despite the crappy weather. The Foos were amazing (of course). After seeing them at the 9:30 Club and the Black Cat the last two times they came through town, it was a little weird seeing them on such a big stage, but shooting them was a blast, as was the reveal of “Dave of Thrones.” We could kind of see Dave’s chair through the curtain before the band went on and none of us could figure out what the hell that was.
I must admit I was totally wrong about the other bands on the bill. Heart was AMAZING. LL brought it. Buddy Guy was great. Gary Clark Jr. ruled. Trouble Funk got the shine they deserved. Not a bad set in the bunch. All in all, it was a great day. And anytime you get to shoot a stadium show is a good day. Truth.
