I covered this show for WAMU’s Bandwidth and wrote a short review over there. The longer version is this is the 15th or so time I’ve seen Morrissey and it very well might be the last. His voice was in better shape than I expected for this show but I only enjoyed a few songs of this set and if I’m being honest, I think the rash of cancelations over the last 4 years (6 of 7 shows!) has forever poisoned my view of the Mighty Mozzer.
I also feel Moz’s live show has gone downhill lately. The last good show I saw him play was DAR Hall in 2007. That was actually the best Morrissey show I’ve ever seen and I had a sinking suspicion it would be downhill from there for me. I think that’s the case. Sorry, Morrissey.
All that said, the lights at this show were magnificent. The best I have ever had at Echostage, so I was very thankful for that. Moz spent a lot of time during the first three with his eyes closed and making weird faces, so the good shots were harder to come by, but I think I did alright. This was the fourth time I’ve shot Morrissey but the first time from an actual photo pit!
