Sleater-Kinney @ 930 Club

Sleater-Kinney Perform at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC - February 24, 2015 - Carrie Brownstein, Janet Weiss and Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney perform during the first of two sold-out shows at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C. The band, on hiatus since 2006, reunited late in 2014 and recently released No Cities to Love, their first album in almost 10 years. Not sure what I can say about Sleater-Kinney and their reunion tour that hasn’t already been said. This was a tough shoot. There were a ton of photogs in the pit, plus 4 or 5 people from the NPR team (they webcast the show – watch it here). There wasn’t much room to move back and forth so I wasn’t able to switch out lenses like I had originally planned, so I stayed wide and went with the flow.

Corin and Carrie were set up pretty far apart on stage so getting all three band members in the same frame was bit of a challenge, but a welcome one. We were allowed to shoot songs 3, 4 and 5. Lights are intense and vary quite a bit, be ready to adjust your shutter speed. I shot this with a loaner D810, I’ll have my thoughts on the camera a little later.
