This show was perfect. The only bad thing was we were only allowed to shot Robyn & Royksopp’s collaborative set at the end of the night, not their individual sets that led up to it. Robyn was just incredible. It was such a pleasure to see her do HER show after seeing her at festivals or opening for other acts for the last few years. This was the victory lap she never took after Body Talk. And then new stuff she played sounded brilliant. I’m really looking forward to her new martial. Royksopp were pretty great too. I only know a few of their songs so I wasn’t sure what to expect but they certainly did not disappoint.
SHOOTING NOTES: Like I said, we were allowed to shoot songs 2-4 of the joint set at the end of the night. Lights were good, but not great. Robyn’s lights for her set were much better, but whatever. She moved around a decent bit but spent a good portion of her time on a platform on top of the stage, which was great since we were shooting soundboard. Wolf Trap is always soundboard, but other cities were allowed to shoot from the pit. I took a TON of photos, so there is plenty of time to get the shots you need. The one song where they played off each other at the front for he stage was great. Also, make sure to get Robyn at the end of “Monument” when she breaks out some interpretive dance moves. I got some great shots then.
