This was a pretty great show by a great performer that has an incredible back story. Hailu Mergia is a very well respected musician from Ethiopia that was huge in the ’70’s but nowadays drives a taxi in the Washington, D.C. area. The Post has more on his story. Mergia is back playing gigs every now and then and his show on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center was very well attended and sounded brilliant. Definitely worth checking out if he comes through your area and your looking to explore some non-indie rock music for a change of pace.
