WASHINGTON, DC - August 26th, 2012 - Fabled R&B recluse D'Angelo performs at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. After a few false starts, D’Angelo has finally made good on his promises of a comeback and I’m very happy to report that he was in fine form opening for Mary J. Blige at the Verizon Center a few weeks ago. He began his set by walking through the crowd before making his way onstage and turning in a virtuoso performance filled with hits from his back catalog.

We were allowed your standard first three songs for this gig and that was plenty of time to get a variety of shots. D’Angelo knows how to work the crowd, whether singing behind his mic at center stage or moving back and forth from the sides of the stage while playing guitar. Lights were great and overall shooting his set was pretty straightforward. Mary J. was awesome as usual. I’ll try and get those photos up tomorrow if possible.
