When I volunteered to help my wife out at her high school reunion by taking photos at the event I thought it would just be your standard event environment, just roaming around the venue and getting people to pose for photographs together. Little did I know that there would be a mechanical bull!
As you can see, this made for some pretty great photos and a nice addition to the standard event fare I generally get. These photos almost didn’t get taken though. The hotshoe on my Nikon D700 got bent on the trip out to California and I had a heck of a time getting it to work. I finally managed to jam a small flat head screwdriver in there and straighten everything out, but not before some very tense moments that had me pulling what’s left of my hair out. I learned a valuable lesson this weekend, it’s better to pack a large bag and have room in it than overpack a smaller bag.
Special thanks to the reunion chairman Stephanie Wilbanks and the rest of the reunion committee and event sponsors for hosting such a great event.
