Arenas & Sheds Concerts Verizon Center

Arctic Mokeys @ Verizon Center

I don’t think I’ve seen the Arctic Monkeys since they toured behind Favourite Worst Nightmare, so it has been a while since I’ve seen Alex Turner & Co. in concert. Luckily I got to catch them opening for the Black Keys at the Verzion Center. The band played a very energetic set to a 1/3 full venue but still looked like they had fun doing it. It was great to hear “Brianstorm” and “If You Were There,…

Concerts Fillmore Silver Spring

Young Jeezy @ Fillmore Silver Spring

I have to admit that even though I know the name Young Jeezy I don’t know a whole lot about him. I recognized a few of his songs during this show but that’s about it. I got nothin’. I will say this for Jeezy, he had a great stage presence (and didn’t wear a hat!). He was a bit unusual in that he actually used his mic while it was on the mic stand instead of walked…

Lightroom 4 Released Today

The product releases keep coming. Today marks the release of Adobe Lightroom 4. According to Amazon you can buy it today and it ships tomorrow. There is a new price for this releases, $149 for the full version and $79 for the education or upgrade version. I am going to wait a few weeks to get the new version as there are generally a few kinks to work out whenever software is released and I prefer to let…

Concerts Nissan Pavilion

Radiohead @ Nissan Pavillion

Way back in 2007 2008 I got my big break all account of Radiohead and a whole lot biblical amount of rain. I was covering the Radiohead concert at Nissan Pavillion for Prefix Mag. It pissed down rain all day. So much so that I made my traveling party leave for the show four hours early to make sure we didn’t have any issues getting in. I had a photo pass to shoot Radiohead and I was not going…

Canon Announces Price Reduction for 5D Mk II

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the new Canon 5d Mk III, Canon has reduced the price of the 5D Mk II by $300 to $2199. This move matches Nikon’s recent price reduction for the D700. Both cameras have the same retail price now. I’m not sure I would pay that much for a camera with an 8 year-old autofocus system (which is getting more dated by the day) but the D700 doesn’t have video capabilities. Ken Rockwell has a breakdown…

Canon Releases the 5d Mk III

I really don’t understand Canon and Nikon. No major camera announcements for years (I don’t count the 7D or D7000 since they are crop cameras) and then four new full frame bodies announced and released in a matter of months. Nikon has announced the D4 and D800 (and a price cut for the D700) and Canon has countered first with the 1Dx and now the 5D Mk III. After using Canon for five years and working my way through…

Black Cat Concerts

Kurt Vile & Thurston Moore @ Black Cat

Kurt Vile’s Smoke Ring For My Halo was far and away my favorite album of last year (which is saying something considering both Noel and Liam Gallagher released albums), but I didn’t really enjoy his full band show at the Rock N Roll Hotel late last year. This gig, however, was magnificent. Mostly solo, except for a few songs backed up by a bass player and a harpist, Vile delivered an amazing low-key performance that left me…

Estelle @ Birchmere

One of my first assignments for the Post back in 2009 was shooting Estelle at the 9:30 Club, so obviously I was very excited to get the chance to shoot here again last week at the Birchmere. I adore Estelle, she oozes talent and puts on a great show. I’ve been listening to her new song with Janelle Monae quite a bit. I think we all know how I feel about Ms. Monae. This was a typical shoot at…
