I’m not going to lie and say that I was familiar with Charanjit Singh before this show. Many people credit him for making the first ever acid house album five full years before the movement started in England, so more power to him. I was honestly more excited about seeing the opening act, Protect-U. It’s been way too long since I had seen them live and they played a great set, some of which you can stream here. I suggest you do so.

This was my first time going to Tropicalia and probably the last for taking photos. It’s a fine club, plenty of space and a great sound system, but the lights are pants and not much better than the Black Cat backstage room. But the crowd was very nice about letting me move around and overall, the show was great.
