Hot on the heels of the announcement of the new Canon 5d Mk III, Canon has reduced the price of the 5D Mk II by $300 to $2199. This move matches Nikon’s recent price reduction for the D700. Both cameras have the same retail price now. I’m not sure I would pay that much for a camera with an 8 year-old autofocus system (which is getting more dated by the day) but the D700 doesn’t have video capabilities. Ken Rockwell has a breakdown of the two cameras here. Either way, it’s a great time to move to a full frame camera if you are still shooting on a crop.
