I don’t know much about country music, but I do know Lady Antebellum are about the biggest thing going right now. Chris Richards has written about them numerous times for the Washington Post. They took the stage to “1901” by Phoenix, so I figured they couldn’t be all bad.
And they weren’t. You could tell they were a bit unsure of themselves on such a big stage, but they still put on a great show and used as much of the stage and catwalk real estate as possible. They are back in the D.C.-area in September, headlining a day long country music festival at Merriweather, so it will be interesting to see if and how they have improved since then. I would imagine playing to packed houses opening for Tim McGraw teaches you quite a bit.
I shot this show with my Nikon D3 and a rented 300mm/2.8. I had many of the same challenges that I had for McGraw’s set as far as the crowd, but not quite as bad due to less people in their seats. Full photo set below:
