Maddie and Tae made some (well deserved) waves last year with their hot song “Girl In A Country Song,” which skewers all the formulaic bro-country songs currently on country radio. They played the Fillmore last week as part of WMZQ’s Stars and Guitars Concert, which is a roundtable, round-robin type event where four artists take the stage and trade songs one after the other. This is a cool format, but since everyone is on stage at the same time, it means no one moves around on stage. And we were only given one song per performer, so I spent that short time focusing on getting both Maddie and Tae in the same frame.
