Hi Joe,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, this would mean there are 2 copies of the photo. I generally delete the unedited photos from my working folder once a month, keeping the selects and the edited copies in Lightroom and then backing those copies up according to my backup workflow.

thanks for posting this - it's just what i was looking for. a question, though... doesn't doing it this way mean that you end up with two copies of your original selects - plus the edited/corrected versions? or am i not understanding?

thanks.

If you don't shoot sports or need an action camera, the Mk III sounds great on paper and I would lean that way. It should be fine in the low light and the new autofocus should help tremendously. With the extra $$ you save you could buy a new lens if you were so inclined. I would definitely lean that way if I was still shooting Canon.

As one of those Canon shooters flirting with lusty thoughts of Nikon, I was interested to read that you switched and remain happy. Nevertheless, here I am thinking about upgrading my 5DII to either the 5DIII or the 1Dx, and glad to see you still tracking Canon. Price aside, if you were still shooting Canon, would you go for the 5DIII or the 1Dx? (I do not shoot video, do shoot a lot of low-light music). Thanks. js

Its a real bummer that there's no smaller raw option on the d800. Bizarre. TIFFs are going to be 1/4 GB. Still, can't wait to see what these files look like with a nice lens!
